Energy Savings

Cool in Summer and Warm in Winter

Insulation basically prevents the loss of heat in winter from your home to the outside and prevents the hot air of summer from entering your home. This is because insulation placed in the floors, attics and walls resists heat flow.

Heat flow is a critical element in your energy usage. Heat naturally moves from warmer places to colder places. In winter, the heat produced by your heating system naturally moves from the warm home interior into the unheated spaces such as attics, garages, basements or directly outdoors. To compensate for this, your heating system must run more often to keep your home’s temperature constant. In summer, when the outside temperature is warmer than the interior of the home, heat will flow into your home making your air conditioner work harder to keep the house cool.

By correctly installing the appropriate amount of insulation, this heat transfer can be reduced, due to insulation’s heat flow resistance, and thereby saving you money on your utility bills.

Almost 67% of all heat loss occurs in the ceilings and walls of a building. Properly insulating these areas of the building can dramatically reduce your energy bills.

It is a known fact that Cellulose insulation performs better than fiberglass when you need it most. As temperatures become more extreme, the R-value of Cellulose insulation actually improves while the fiberglass insulation R-value drops.

Energy Star

Energy Star PartnerChampion’s Cellulose insulations are Energy Star Products. Energy Star products help you save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Most people are familiar with the Energy Star label on kitchen appliances and other electrical devices. However people often overlook that the single biggest energy-saving opportunity in a house is having the correct insulation installed.

At Champion Insulation, we encourage all homeowners to look for the Energy Star logo on all products they purchase.
